Assignment: Industrialisation Manager UD Tapes

We were tasked with recruiting a highly experienced engineer/scientist with an in-depth understanding of polymer processing technologies. Very few people in Europe had the knowledge needed to lead an industrialisation programme to design, develop and deliver novel manufacturing processes and capabilities for new products and forms and successfully translating them from concept and laboratory phases through to commercialisation and full scale manufacturing. The assignment was completed within the proposed time frame and the industrialisation programme has gone from strength to strength.

Client: Manufacturer of composite solutions for the Aerospace sector


Assignment: Program Manager Materials


Location: Germany


An international composite parts manufacturer specialising in the defence aerospace sector looked to transition their European operations from a purely R&D facility, to a full manufacturing unit. The focus of the role was to develop material solutions especially adapted to a new and existing proprietary technology for implementation into a production environment. Our remit was to recruit a materials scientist with expertise in composites processing and application engineering, ideally a linguist, who, on a fixed term contract, could deliver the project within a very tight timescale. This was achieved, if ultimately, manufacturing was moved to the parent company outside Europe.

Assignment: Sales Manager (Defence)

Over many years the company was rightly recognised for their design, tooling and low volume manufacturing capabilities and had longstanding relationships with OEM customers and advanced materials supply partners. Looking to the future, a strategic decision was taken to take a more focused approach to their market and fully utilise the true capability of the business, both in terms of human capital and their manufacturing capability. Our remit was to identify and recruit a Senior Sales Manager with specific knowledge of, and an existing network across, the defence sector. The assignment was completed within the proposed time frame and our client is projecting a significant defence capability to a global market.

Client: Experts in Custom Composite Fabrication 


Assignment: Operations Manager


Location: USA


A privately owned company offering design and fabrication services to a diverse market including the aerospace, motion picture, theme park and museums sector. A highly complex architectural project was in danger of running behind schedule and we were asked to find an Operatioms Manager capable of working with world class architects and design consultants on a project of significant cultural importance. The appointed manager would not only have to understand the complex engineering of the design but would need to ensure a suitably qualified labour force was in place, material selection was correct, process methods approved and tooling design standards met. Our search led us to China where we identified an expatriate with the required level of expertise. The project was completed on time and the celebrated structure is now much admired at one of the leading universities in the USA.
